take breathing exercises before…long intake of air etc.
Find an acting studio and join, it’s brilliant for boosting confidence

Well, I’d try practicing in front of a mirror talking and getting your speech down. Memorizing it would be good because then you could look up at the crowd. Today just try to get the speech down and relax, maybe even do breathing exercises and that should do it. Good luck! :)

Be passionate about your topic! In your mind, make it so you JUST CAN’T WAIT to share what you have to say with others!

(And then, when you get a chance, join a local group of “The Toastmasters,” which gives you practice in speaking to others in a small, friendly, supportive group.)

The first time I was ever required to give a pubic speech was in communications class in Jr. college. I did get to the podium but ask for permission to go get some water. I did not come back to class that day. Today I give impromptu speeches were ever ask, teach sunday school with no problems. The problem and the fix I have found is this. Know you subject inside and out and backwards. This cannot be overstressed. Get set in your mind you have information that the hear(s) need to hear and this is the opportunity to give it to them. Keep your high points of interest well spaced and punctual but do not belabor a point or the subject. If you have opportunity, choose a topic that you a very interested in. Opinions are okay if they are buttressed by fact. And just for fun, wome wag said, “imagine your audience naked”.

Okay, here are some quick suggestions:
1.Think of the audience as a single entity/person. Don’t think of it as a speech, instead think of it as a conversation.
2.Prepare well so you’re not nervous about being unprepared and you’re confident with your talk.
3.Speak about something you know well – you’ll be less likely to lose your place and forget important parts of your speech.
I teach people how to overcome their fear of public speaking the most effective way I’ve found with my students is to get up there and speak. Start with smaller groups and work your way up to larger audiences. Given your situation, perhaps you could try practicing your speech in front of a few friends.

    Hope this helps,
    James
