Act up in WAL-MART or the mall. That’s what I did.

Be sure to slow your tones by forcing yourself to breath evenly. Yawn a lot before you go up to loosen your throat muscles. Also, realize that the people in front of you are just as nervous as you are about their time to get up and probably won’t notice if you mess up so just be natural and have fun.

Doing plays on stage, I would unfocus my eyes when I had to look towards the audience. If I was unable to do that I would pick one or two friendly faces in the crowd and focus on them. On occasion I would focus on a spot on the back wall just above the audiences heads. I looked like I was looking at them but wasn’t. Try practicing your speech in front of as many people as you can. It should help with your jitters. Kind of a dress rehearsal. I hope these suggestions help. Break a leg!
