“When” in college do you have to take public speaking?
Me asked:
I am currently a freshman who goes to an Institute. I know that I will have to take public speaking, but I would wait until my third year of university if possible, because by then I will be at a bigger university. Rather take public speaking when they are away from home and don 't know anyone else in the class. I guess I want to get a start. "Fresh; So, I could wait until then? I know this seems like a strange question, but rather has been around new people when I take this type of class.

As long as it’s not a pre-requisite to anything else you need then it doesn’t matter when you take it.

Well by your junior year you are taking your classes that pertain to your major so you want to take public speaking class atleast by next year. I took a theatre class and it doubled for my speech credit and for my language arts.

It probably depends on the university, but I am a senior in college and I’ve never had to take a public speaking class. I took an English that fulfilled a Communications requirement because there was a short presentation at the end of the quarter, but no entire class devoted to Public Speaking. If your major is not in Public Affairs or Communications or such, you likely do not have to take the class at all.
I hear ya, though, about wanting to be far away from people you know when taking the class. I feel the same.

You just have to finish all the required courses before you graduate. There isn’t really a specific time limit.
